ZENER DIODE

A silicon semiconductor Zener diode permits current to flow in both directions. When a specified voltage is attained, the diode's distinctive, heavily doped p-n junction conducts oppositely. The Zener diode starts conducting current at a well-negative breeze and can operate in a reverse-bias mode without suffering any harm indefinitely. Similarly, more zen diodes are helpful for voltage regulation because, in addition, the output voltage across the diode is constant throughout a broad voltage range. We are the best 2.2v to 24v SMD Zener diode dealer in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.

ZENER DIODE OPERATIONS

The Zener diode functions precisely like a conventional diode in the forward-bias mode with a switching voltage of 0.3 to 0.7 V. When linked in a reverse way, which is typical in most of its uses, a low impedance current may flow. Whenever the reverse voltage is reached the predetermined breakdown value, current flows through the diode (Vz). The present helps stabilize after getting a maximum set by the series resistor, and it remains stable throughout a broad supply voltage range.

ZENER DIODE SPECIFICATIONS

The performance of Zener diodes is influenced by variables such as power dissipation, minimum working voltage, maximum reverse current, and packaging. Here are some examples of frequently used specifications:

Current Iz (max.): At the specified Zener voltage Vz, the maximum current (200 uA to 200 A) is possible.

Voltage Vz: The reverse electrical resistance ranges from 2.4 V to around 200 V and can reach 1 kV, referred to as "Zener voltage" (the maximum voltage of an SMD is about 47 V).

Power Rating: The maximum rated power of a Zener diode is determined by the sum of the applied voltage and the current flowing through it. The average values are 400 mW, 500 mW, 1 W, and 5 W; for surface-mounted devices, the particular values are 200 mW, 350 mW, 500 mW, and 1W.

Voltage Tolerance:±5%.

Temperature Stability: The most stable diodes are those around 5V.

Package: Leaded and surface-mount components can be found in integrated circuits or as discrete components.

Zener Resistance (Rz): The IV characteristics show that the diode has some resistance. The most stable diodes are those around 5V.
